Magnetism of TiBe2

The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility and the magnetization curve in the ground state of a nearly ferromagnetic itinerant electron system TiBe2 are discussed based on the unified theory of spin fluctuations developed by Moriya and Takahashi. (1) A maximum in x(T) at around 10 K and the Curieweiss law of ;((T) above about 30 K, and (2) a maximum in M/H and a good linearity of the Arrott plot under higher fields at low temperatures can be explained consistently with semi-quantitative Success by using a model density of states introduced by taking account of the results of band structure calculations.
