Abstract

Structure, magnetic properties and specific heat have been studied for the UNi1-xTxAl (T = Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir and Pt) alloys. Whereas the Ru, Rh and Ir substitutions for Ni lead to decrease of the Neel temperature TN and of the critical field Bc of the metamagnetic transition reflecting suppression of antiferromagnetism, the Pd substitution enhances the antiferromagnetism (both TN and Bc increase with x). A more complicated behavior is found in the case of T = Pt (increasing TN simultaneously with decreasing Bc).
