Magnetic properties of quaternary Heusler alloys Ni2-x Co x MnGa

Abstract

Magnetization and initial permeability measurements were done on the Heusler alloys Ni2-x Cox MnGa (0≤x≤2). On the basis of the results, the magnetic-phase diagram was determined for Ni2-x Cox MnGa (0≤x≤2). The Curie temperature TC increases with increasing the Co concentration x. The martensitic transition temperature decreases abruptly with increasing x. The magnetic moment per formula unit at 5 K makes a broad maximum around x=1.0. The concentration dependence of the magnetic moment for Ni 2-x Cox MnGa (0≤x≤2) has been calculated using the Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method. The computational results of the magnetic moment are in good agreement with the experimental results in this study.
