Mo-substituted Nd(Fe-Mo)12Nx compounds were investigated. The ThMn12 crystal structure was obtained for an RFe11Mo composition by optimizing the solution treatment temperature. NdFe11Mo shows a high saturation magnetization and Curie temperature, and has a higher anisotropy field than NdFe11TiNx. The NdFe11MoNx magnet produced by mechanical alloying had a (BH)max of 64 kJ/m3 (8 MGOe). Recent theoretical approaches to YFe11TiN compounds are reviewed.
