Abstract
The LaMnO3+δ crystal has successfully been synthesized in a mesoporous silica MCM-41 by an improvement in the impregnation method. X-ray diffraction measurement has revealed that the crystal has a rhombohedral structure and the average particle size is about 9.5 nm. Ferromagnetic behavior with a hysteresis of the magnetization curve was observed below T=280 K; however, the magnetization is not saturated up to H=7 T at T=5 K. These results suggest that ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic regions coexist in the sample.
