Magnetic properties of Ce3Ni2Si8

Abstract

Magnetic properties of Ce3Ni2Si8 were investigated by magnetic susceptibility, high-field magnetization, specific heat and resistivity measurements. Magnetic susceptibility shows the Curie-Weiss behavior with the effective magnetic moment of 2.1 μB/Ce and the Curie-Weiss temperature of -22 K. Magnetization curves at 4.2 and 1.6 K show a monotonical increase and no tendency of saturation up to 30 T. The electronic specific heat coefficient shows a large upturn below 15 K and attains to 250 mJ/K2 mol Ce at 4.5 K.
