Magnetic properties and Mössbauer effect in single-crystalline EuPdSb

Abstract

It has been reported that transport properties of polycrystalline EuPdSb shows anomalies at around 12 and 18 K. Magnetic and transport properties on single crystal of EuPdSb are reported for the first time in this paper. It is revealed that magnetic susceptibility along the a-axis shows strong anisotropy below 12 K. Such features are also observed in high-field magnetization using pulsed field. Especially, three jump steps of magnetization are observed for applying field along the a-axis. 151Eu Mössbauer study implies that Néel temperature of EuPdSb is 18 K and magnetic phase transition occurs at 12 K, which is consistent with the specific heat measurement.
