Magnetic phase diagram of CsCuCl3 studied by specific heat measurements

Abstract

The specific heats of a single crystal of a triangular antiferromagnet CsCuCl3 in magnetic fields both parallel to the hexagonal axis (H ∥ c) and perpendicular to that (H || a) up to 15 T were measured. In H ∥ c below ∥ 5 T only one peak is observed. However, above that field two peaks are observed, as previously reported. In contrast, for II ∥ a only one anomaly is observed up to 15 T. In H ∥ a the transition temperature slightly increases with increasing magnetic field up to ∼ 8 T and above that field it decreases. The magnetic phase diagram obtained from these measurements is presented.
