Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of magnetic fields on the fracture toughness of nickel iron soft ferromagnetic materials. Tensile tests were performed using single-edge cracked plate specimens in a magnetic filed, and the critical load was measured. The magnetoelastic analysis of a soft ferromagnetic strip with a single-edge crack was also done to calculate the magnetic stress intensity factor, and the fracture toughness was obtained using critical load.
