Abstract

By Lorentz microscopy observations, the first evidence has been found that the one-to-one correspondence between the magnetic domains and crystallographic twins, which is well-known for the modulated tetragonal Ni-Mn-Ga martensite with c/a < 1, does not hold for the non-modulated Ni-Mn-Ga martensite with c/a > 1. This fact has been attributed to the easy-plane character of the magnetic anisotropy of the martensite with c/a > 1.
