Magnetic characterization of Co-Pt particles produced by sputtering

Abstract

The magnetoanisotropy for Co and Co-Pt nanocrystals produced by sputtering was evaluated by the law of approach to saturation. The volume fraction R ranged from 0 to 80%, but the anisotropy evaluated under the assumption that it behaves as uniaxial was not sensitive to R. Calculation of Hc using these Kueff agrees well with the measured Hc. The ratio Mr/Ms is near 0.5 irrespective of R. This also supports uniaxial switching behaviors for these nanocrystals.
