Magnetic and Electronic Structure of Finite-Size Systems of Fe/Au(n)

Abstract

The spin polarization of the finite-size systems consisting of Fe monolayer and Au layers in Fe/Au(n) (n=2-12) with [001] slacking is studied by the self-consistent band calculation. At Au surface layer the magnetic moment decreases exponentially with 6 monolayer thickness with increasing number of Au layers. The decreasing behavior of the inside Au layers is quite different with that of the surface layer. With increasing number of Au layers the moment of Fe monolayer changes non-monotonically with size of 0.1μB.
