Low-temperature synthesis of nanocrystalline ZrP via co-reduction of ZrCl4 and PCl3

    Zirconium phosphide (ZrP) has been synthesized via a sodium co reduction of ZrCl4 and PCl3 at 350°C. The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) pattern can be indexed as cubic ZrP with the lattice constant a=5.25 Å. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) image indicates the product has dendritic morphology and hexagonal flakes.
