Lattice dynamics of helium gas hydrates based on ice framework: Dynamic and thermodynamic stability

Abstract

He atoms in interstices of ice Ic (helium hydrate He·H2O in ice Ic) lead to an insignificant changes of volume of the crystal, that does not strongly change dynamic properties of the lattice and does not destroy the crystal. On the contrary, dynamical and thermodynamical stabilities are considerably increased. In the region of pressure from 4.24 to 5 kbar, the ice Ic completely filled by helium atoms is more stable than ice VIII.
