Abstract
The lattice distortions and the phase diagram of antiferromagnetic γ-Mn100-xIrx disordered alloys have been investigated. The phase boundary between the face-centered-tetragonal (fct) and the face-centered-cubic (fcc) structures exists at around x = 15, being about 2-3 at.% Ir higher than that published in a previous paper. It is pointed out that the structural transformation from the fct (c>a) to the fcc structure is not necessarily accompanied by the magnetic transition from the 2Q to the 3Q spin structure state. At a much lower concentration of about x = 7, a lattice distortion to a face-centered-orthorhombic (fco) structure takes place in analogy with many kinds of γ-Mn disordered alloys.
