Large spontaneous volume magnetostriction of Mn-Rh alloys

The thermal expansion anomaly related with the spontaneous volume magnetostriction was studied. Magnetic susceptibility was measured with a VSM from room temperature to about 1100 K and the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurement was made up to 950 K with a heating rate of 20 K/min. The lattice constant was obtained by X-ray powder diffraction with Cu-K α radiation from room temperature to about 1100 K. Overall, significant results were obtained.
