Large second-harmonic generation in composite film of p-nitroaniline and its derivatives

Highly second-harmonic generation (SHG)-active p-nitroaniline (pNA) film on isopropyl-NA (IPNA) doped polymer film is fabricated with vacuum evaporation. A large SHG coefficient of on the same order of MNA is measured with the SHG with the evanescent wave (SHEW) method, and the coefficient is stable for at least 1200 h at room temperature. This is due to the formation of SHG-active pNA crystal affected by IPNA molecules. The propagation loss of four-layer waveguide is measured as 4.93 dB/cm at 1064 nm and 6.88 dB/cm at 633 nm, respectively.
