Large-area coating of nanostructured block copolymer film

Abstract

Large-area coating with long-range ordered structures of self-organized block copolymers potentially offers the well-defined periodic nanostructures of technological relevance. We have studied the nanostructures of block copolymers, which are based on the use of amphiphilic block copolymer, PEO-b-PMA(Az), to establish the long-range orderness onto the substrate. Here, we describe the large-area coating method of this copolymer by Microgravure coating technology. The obtained film was found as flat surface and regular PEO cylinder array structure therein. This technique could open up the fabrication method of new nanostructured materials. The well-aligned PEO nanocylinder array succesfully exhibited the nanotemplate materials to modify the nano-scale shape of various kinds of functional materials such as electric conducting RuO 2 , magnetic Fe, organic conducting polymers, and so on.
