Landmine detection by SFCW-GPR through signal processing techniques

Abstract

A stepped-frequency continuous-wave ground penetrating radar (SFCW-GPR) system with Vivaldi antenna for landmine detection has been developed. Signal processing methods have been proposed for removing the clutter and enhancing the landmine response signal. The proposed processing methods include the subtraction background method, pulse compression filter, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technique. The effectiveness and validities of the above methods for processing GPR landmine detection data are studied and good results have been obtained.
