Abstract

A numerical analysis is carried out of laminar free convection in vertical parallel plates and a vertical circular tube with Uniform-Heat-Flux (UHF), with consideration of temperature dependence of fluid physical properties. The local Nusselt numbers of the Constant Property Solutions (CPS) can be well correlated by dimensionless parameters. The CPS for free convective heat transfer are very similar to those of forced convective heat transfer in UHF ducts; therefore, the local Nusselt numbers of Variable Property Solutions (VPS) can be well correlated by the ordinary methods used for forced convective heat transfer.
