Abstract
The oxidation rate of graphite by an impinging jet of CO//2-CO gas mixtures was investigated to analyze the mass transfer characteristics in the gas phase in the reactor used for kinetic studies of the refining reactions between gas and molten metal. The rate of oxidation at 1500 C was found to be controlled by the mass transfer in the gas phase. The chemical reaction rate of oxidation of graphite in CO//2 at 1000 to 1300 C is expressed by an equation.
