Kinetics of anion uptake by rock salt-type magnesium aluminium oxide solid solutions

    Abstract

    The anion uptake behaviour of magnesium aluminium oxide powders, Mg0.61Al0.260.13O and Mg0.77Al0.150.076O, was investigated at 40-60°C for 5-180 min. The reaction rate could be explained by using the surface reaction-controlled shrinking core model. The selectivity of anion uptake increased with increasing electric charge of the anion and with decreasing anion size.
