Abstract
The excitation spectra for the intrinsic luminescence in the 1s-core absorption regions have been measured on crystalline KCl and KBr. Above the Cl- 1s edge in KCl the luminescence yield decreases to a magnitude of about 50% of that below the edge. The decrement in the intrinsic-luminescence yield cannot be explained only in terms of the atomic X-ray fluorescence.
