Abstract

Intercalate interlayer stacking structures in stage-1 graphite intercalation compounds of type MC//6 are studied within the framework of the mean-field lattice gas model. On the basis of the result obtained, the observed difference of the stacking sequences between LiC//6 and other MC//6 compounds, M equals Sr, Ba, Eu, and Yb, is discussed. In the latter cases, comment is made on the possibility of having order-order transitions associated with changes in the stacking sequences at low temperatures.
