The infrared spectra (4000-300 cm-1) of CH3COONa and 13C-labeled modifications (1-13C, 2-13C, and 1,2-13C) suspended in KBr disks were measured at 80 and 290 K. Excellent resolutions were reached by recording the spectra at the low temperature. A new improved assignment was reported for the fundamentals located in the spectral regions 3100-2900 and 1500-1300 cm-1. In the former spectral region, three distinct absorption bands due to CH3-stretching modes were observed without degeneracy. In the latter spectral region, four major fundamentals were found and were reasonably assigned to the symmetric COO-stretching and CH3-deformation modes on the basis of the 13C shifts of the fundamentals.
