Influence of the synthesis mode on electronic properties of Ce-Ni amorphous alloys

Abstract

Amorphous alloys with a combination of Ce and Ni were prepared around 50-50 composition by vapor deposition and melt quenching techniques. The sputter-deposited sample shows a large enhancement of its electronic specific heat coefficient to 460 mJ mol-1 K-2. The electronic properties of the liquid-quenched sample are similar to those observed for polycrystalline samples.
