Abstract

Describes a low turbulence wind tunnel study of the large scale turbulent bulges in the outer region of the turbulent boundary layer, in the intermittent region. Conditional sampling and smoke wire flow visualization results are presented and discussed. Ejections or bursts appear to be of different sizes. Only the tall ones reach the outer boundary of the turbulent boundary layer to form the intermittent turbulent bulges. (C.J.U.)
