Abstract
The influence of cluster size on nucleation rate was discussed based on the cluster-size- dependent entropy of the melt of which derivation is precisely reviewed. The model is useful for the estimation of the free energy of thermally treated melts. The increase of the cluster radius in the melt by 3% caused by the decrease of the melt soaking temperature from 1050 to 950°C potentially leads to the 8°C degree increase of the equilibrium melting temperature and 40°C increase of the solidification temperature of melt provided that the melt quenched down close to the phase transition temperature holds its initial structure at the soaking temperature.
