Improving teaching by integrating real-time feedback through clickers into class video recording

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present an educational program with an ICT system to help teachers or teaching assistants (TAs) improve their teaching. We discuss the effectiveness of our system and program by analyzing learning performance of graduate students in a teaching course. The main contribution of our work is that we offer teachers or TAs an effective and efficient way of improve their teaching through instant use of video recording. For example, by using our system, a teacher can perform reflection of her/his class within 10 minutes immediately after the class. Our system is also very flexible, and it can be used on almost any type of classes anywhere. Though we have designed our educational program for graduate students, it could be applied to other peer-reviewing environment, such as, class observations among teachers.
