Hyperfine interactions in the antiferromagnetic states of UX2 (X = P, As, Sb, Bi)

We have investigated hyperfine interactions at uranium sites in the antiferromagnetic states of uranium dipnicties using 238U Mössbauer spectroscopy. The nuclear quadrupole interaction at 238U is almost zero in UBi2, whereas the sign of this interaction in UP2, UAs2, and USb2 is negative. This indicates that the nuclear quadrupole interactions in these compounds are correlated with their magnetic structures. Hyperfine-coupling constants in the antiferromagnetic states in these compounds are also discussed.
