Abstract

Since Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo alloy which is beta rich ( alpha plus beta ) type titanium alloy has high specific strength and great corrosion resistance, this alloy is used for the parts of jet engines etc. This alloy is expected to be applicable not only to the jet engine but also to the fields of chemical industry and ocean development etc. in the future. Titanium alloy is known to be embrittled by hydrogen absorption. However, the behavior of hydrogen embrittlement of titanium alloy has not been made clear yet. It is considered to be more and more necessary to study this field for the wide use of titanium alloy. In this study, the effect of various heat teatments on the behavior of hydrogen embrittlement of Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo alloy was examined. Then, the relation between this behavior and the microstructural factor was investigated.
