High-speed modulation of 1.55-μm VCSELs with spin polarization modulation

Abstract

We investigate a novel high-speed direct modulation scheme of InAlGaAs VCSELs using optical spin injection and modulation. A wide 3-dB bandwidth drastically enhanced by the birefringence of VCSEL is demonstrated in both calculations and experiments.
