Abstract

Preparation and indentation behavior of polyimide/diamond nanocomposites were described. The incorporation of nano diamond (ND) particles greatly decreased the UV transmittance of the polyimide (PI). Indentation behaviour of the polyimides were investigated. Modulus of polyimide was enhanced steadily with increasing diamond loading. The polyimide/diamond nanocomposites with enhanced performance are expected to satisfy strict requirements in hi-tech fields including high temperature adhesives, composites, and membranes for manufacturing aircraft, space-born systems and microelectronic devices as well as in hard and wear-resistant surface coatings.
