High performance CoPtCrO single layered perpendicular media with no recording demagnetization

Abstract

The media structure and magnetic properties as well as the R/W characteristics of CoPtCrO media were studied. High signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and large slope were observed. It was found that the non-magnetic layers under the magnetic layer play a very important role in controlling the magnetic properties and R/W performances.
