High-field optical spectroscopy of the spin-crossover complex [Mn III(taa)]

Abstract

In this study, we have observed the optical absorption spectra of the manganese(III) complex [MnIII(taa)] (H3taa = tris(1-(2-azolyl)-2-azabuten-4-yl)amine), in high magnetic fields. From the measurements at zero field, we have found a variation of the spectrum between 100 K and 4.2 K due to the thermally-induced spin-crossover transition, which occurs around T c ≈47 K. Furthermore, from the high-field experiment, a magnetochromism, accompanying with the field-induced spin-crossover, has been observed just below T c .
