High field gradient single pole head with a novel pole structure

Abstract

A high field gradient single pole head with a novel pole structure was depicted. The head fields for various shapes and locations of the upper return path were calculated. It was shown that the regular single pole head attained the πa of 19.67 nm while the new head with the realistic throat height and gap length showed the πa of 9.83 nm.
