Heat-resistant castable aluminium alloys alloyed with iron

Abstract

On the basis of the structural approach, the feasibility of developing relatively inexpensive high-iron heat-resistant castable aluminium alloys has been substantiated. As promising ones, the compositions Al-Fe-Ce-Zr- Cr and Al- Fe-Ni-Zr-Cr are proposed, the structure of which after heat treatment is the combination of a heat-resistant Fe-containing phase of eutectic origin and a heat-resistant aluminium matrix containing Zr and Cr. The alloys proposed have high heat resistance characteristics, mechanical and casting properties and are no worse, and in a number of characteristics better, than such well-known heat-resistant alloys as ATsR1u and AL33.
