Growth of twinned lithium tetraborate crystal and its application to bimorph actuator

Abstract

Twinned Li2B4O7 crystals have been successfully grown by the Czochralski (CZ) method. Parameters necessary for the reproducible growth of twinned Li2B4O7 crystal have been also investigated. A piezoelectric bimorph actuator using twinned Li2B4O7 crystal has been produced. It is confirmed that this actuator shows an excellent linearity between the applied voltage and displacement.
