Growth of La3-xBaxTa0.5+x/2Ga5.5-x/2O14 single crystals by the micro-pulling-down technique

Abstract

For the improvement of piezoelectric properties, alkali-earth (AE) ion (Ba2+)-substituted La3Ta0.5Ga5.5O14 (LTG) crystals with chemical formula of La3-x BaxTa0.5+x/2 Ga5.5-x/2O14 (LBTG) were investigated. Solid solution range and congruency of the LBTG was examined by the powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the differential thermal analysis (DTA), which enables the selection of a suitable starting composition for the micro-pulling-down (μ-PD) growth, respectively. Based on these data, LBTG single crystals have been grown, as a function of molar ratio of x, by the μ-PD technique.
