Abstract
Grain growth and ordering process in FePt-SiO2 granular films was investigated. The films were annealed in vacuum at temperatures up to 650°centigrade and the packing density was varied widely from 0.89 to 0.25. Transmission electron microscopy was used to observe growth of the ordered phase in the granular structure. Results indicated that coalescence of grains in granular films accelerated ordering in FePt.
