Governing equations for inundated flow in vegetated area and similarity laws for trunk

Abstract

New governing equations for an inundated flow in a vegetated area, residential area or urban area are derived to apply them for a numerical simulation of the flow. The distinctive feature of the equations is in considering the volume of vegetation, house or building. Similarity laws for trunk and branch are also derived to obtain more accurate information in model experiments. The usefulness and practicability of both the equations and the laws are examined and confirmed through numerical and physical experiments.
