Abstract
Based on an unsteady three-dimensional global model of heat transfer analysis which is developed for flat free surface case, we considered the meniscus of free surface and investigated the effect of curved melt free surface on melt convection and global temperature distribution inside furnace by many numerical simulations. It is found that the curved free surface tends to easily cause melt oscillation and lower down the critical rotation Reynolds number at which crystal/melt interface reverses. These results show that our global model of heat transfer analysis becomes more practical and perfect.
