Abstract
There has been a growing demand for developing processes to generate H2 and syngas such as H2-CO-CH4-other useful gas for energy resources. We have proposed a novel process for generating pure H2 and syngas from biomass (waste wood, cellulose based materials and resin) through its mechanochemical treatment with additives such as hydrated materials like apatite and Ca(OH)2, followed by heating at around 400°C. The gasses were characterized by different methods, confirming pure H2 and other syngas which are useful substances as energy resources. Especially, pure H2 generated could be enough as an input gas for a fuel cell. This process would be useful for generating such energy gases from waste materials such as wood, resin (including hydrocarbon) and other cellulose based materials.
