Abstract
The cycloid function voltage having no resonant frequency component was applied to a piezo-ceramic circular transducer to generate the monopole ultrasonic pulse. The on-axis pressure characteristics of the monopole ultrasonic pulse with different pulse widths were observed. It was found that the onset distance of the decrease in amplitude became shorter as the pulse width increased. The distance of the onset of decrease in the amplitude of sound is proposed as a practical limit of the near field for the monopole ultrasonic pulse.
