Gate-Readout of Photovoltage from a Grating-Gate Plasmonic THz Detector

Abstract

We propose the use of the gate electrode as a readout port of photovoltage of a grating-gate plasmonic THz detector. We fabricate the device and experimentally demonstrate the scaling of the photovoltage with the size of active area for the gate-readout and an excellent impedance matching to a 50-Ω interconnection system, both of which are impossible for the drain-readout.
