Abstract

The influences of measuring conditions on the photoacoustic spectra have been investigated using Cr**6** plus absorption spectrum in CaO-Al//2O//3-SiO//2 glasses doped with 0. 2 mol%Cr//2O//3. The phase difference of lock-in amplifiers was the most important parameter in a double beam photoacoustic spectrometer used in this study. The optical basicities were measured using Pb**2** plus as the indicator ion. Na//2Co//3 melted at 1473 K MgO crucibles showed two basicities, 0. 68 and 1. 11.
