Abstract
The velocity profile, shear stress profile and friction coefficient for a wave-current coexisting system are derived by assuming a time-invariant eddy viscosity. In particular, an approximation for the friction coefficient is obtained which should be useful for practical applications. On the basis of previous and recent experiments, flow regimes for wave-current motion are determined. Given the hydraulic characteristics and bed form properties, the bottom shear stress can be estimated using the proposed criteria for the flow regime and friction coefficient.
