Fracture toughness of metastable Ti-6Al-4V alloy

Abstract

Toughness of titanium alloys is discussed in terms of crack closure and enhanced ductility effects. The effects are considered to be influenced by the β phase stability which is defined as the ability of the phase to retard the stress induced phase transformation.
