The organic thin films have recently been prepared mainly by the Langmuir-Blodgett, vacuum vapor and adsorption techniques. However, the Langmuir-Blodgett and vacuum vapor deposition methods need unique equipments and cannot be used for covering complicated solid surfaces. In this paper, the authors report a new and simple adsorption method which deposits a thin monomer film with an octadecenyl group on copper surfaces from an aqueous solution which is subsequently polymerized by heat or UV irradiation.
