Formation of an FCC/L12 lamella structure in Ni-12.6Al-20Ir-5Nb refractory superalloys

The general microstructural observations of the lamellar structure of the Ni-based superalloys or Ir-based superalloys and the effects of this lamellar structure on the compressive 0.2% flow stress were experimentally studied. It has been demonstrated that two kinds of L12 precipitates, Ni3Al- and Ir3Nb-typy, existed in the fcc-γ matrix in Ni-12.6Al-20Ir-5Nb superalloys as well as a lamellar structure. Moreover, no lamella structure was found in these superalloys.
